Step two · Formulation

Formulation Sprint

Bring the idea. We turn it into a formula you can manufacture: ingredients sourced and costed, the doses checked against what is allowed, and a quotation for what it will cost to make. From a working base formula to a fully flavoured product ready to sell, you choose how far we take it.

From an idea to a formula you can cost, with your quotation included.

Description

This is the stage where an idea either becomes a product or quietly stops being one. We research the category and the competition you are walking into, build the formulation at effective doses with the standardisations and safety margins that hold up, review the raw material specifications behind every ingredient, and price the whole thing so you know what it costs to make before you commit to anything. Stop there and you have a formula on paper with the evidence for every choice in it. Take the flavoured route and we carry on to the bench: your formula blended, the taste developed and masked, and a sample in your hands to approve.

What is included

  • Product Concept & Market Research: category gap, competitor benchmark, pricing and positioning, and the ingredient framework
  • Formulation Development: effective doses, extract standardisation, format feasibility and safety margins
  • Raw Material Specification Review: supplier specification review and ingredient selection support
  • Product Quotation, free with this bundle: what your product costs to make at real production volumes
  • On the flavoured route, the whole of Flavouring: bench blending, taste development and masking, and a sample you sign off

What is inside, and what each part costs on its own

  • Product Concept & Market Research£625
  • Formulation Development£500
  • Raw Material Specification Review£250

Buying these separately£1,375

Formulation Sprint£1,175

You save£200

With Flavouring (for drink mixes) added, bought separately£2,375

Flavoured and ready to sell£2,175

You save£200

Bought one at a time, those parts come to the figure above. The flavoured route adds Flavouring at its own price, and saves the same amount.

What is not included

  • Label content and regulatory text.
  • Laboratory analysis, which is briefed and arranged separately.
  • The production run itself.
  • Flavouring, on the base route. It is the difference between the two prices.

Lead time

Confirmed with your project plan. We plan the work with you as soon as your brief comes back, and every deliverable carries a date before anything starts. The flavoured route runs longer, because the bench work and the sample sit inside it.

Two things worth knowing

Which of the two do I need?If your product is a capsule or a tablet, the base route is the whole job. If it is a powder somebody has to drink, the flavoured route is the one that ends in something you can put in front of a customer.

Do I have to produce with you afterwards? No. What you buy here is the development work and the documents that come out of it. Owning the formula outright is a separate decision with a single all in price, set out on the Complete Product Development page.
