Becoming a Supplement Founder

The Early Days

Jesse van der Velde: “It was in 2006 that I began working as a personal trainer. I had just moved from the Netherlands to Antwerp, Belgium to start this new chapter in my life. At the time, I was deeply committed to doing things “the natural way.” I didn’t believe in supplements. In fact, I was kind of against them.”

And to be honest, back then there wasn’t really a supplement industry as we know it today. Pretty much the only people who used supplements in those days were bodybuilders. And I had no interest in being part of that world.

Learning from the Best

But then, in 2007, I began studying under the late Charles Poliquin, one of the most brilliant minds in strength and conditioning. That’s when my perspective started to shift.

Charles had a different way of thinking. For him, recommending supplements wasn’t optional, it was a responsibility. He saw it as a crucial part of getting results for his clients.

“My clients come to me for results. Many of their hormonal imbalances and other health issues can’t be fixed just by nutrition, exercise, or mindset alone.”

He taught that specific compounds, nutrients, herbs, and others were often needed to heal, rebalance the body, or correct deficiencies. Still, even after I graduated from his Biosignature (on measuring hormonal imbalances) course, I wasn’t fully convinced.

I was hesitant. I still didn’t want to recommend supplements to my clients. I didn’t want to be seen as salesy. I didn’t want to be seen as “that guy” who sells supplements. I just wanted to focus on training, on helping people through exercise. That’s what I loved.

Financial Rock Bottom

Until one day, everything changed.

It was the weekend, and I wanted to drive up north, 300 kilometers to visit my parents back in the Netherlands. I got into my car and headed to the gas station. I was about to go on that journey… but I couldn’t fill up my tank.

“I couldn’t go. I didn’t have the money.”

That moment hit me harder than I can describe. It created this terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach. I felt like a failure. I felt like I didn’t have my life in order. I was working so hard, putting in the hours, giving it everything. And still, I wasn’t building anything real for myself.

Yes, I was paying the bills. But I wasn’t creating true income, let alone freedom. I wasn’t building a future. And more importantly, I wasn’t living life the way I wanted it to be.

“Out of that frustration of not feeling that life is the way I want it to be… I asked: What else can I sell to my clients?”

And then, everything clicked.

This must change NOW

I remembered how Charles Poliquin treated supplement recommendations. Not as a sales tactic, but as part of his ethical obligation to help his clients. And I saw it clearly for the first time.

“Charles didn’t sell supplements to make more money. He sold them because they were genuinely part of the results he created for his clients.”

In that moment, I realized something important:

My fear of being seen as ‘salesy’ was actually in the way of my clients’ success, and in the way of my own financial freedom.

That’s when I made a decision.

“This must change now.”

So I began importing supplements all the way from the U.S., selecting them based on my clients’ hormonal imbalances, and using them to help people solve real issues, in a way I never could with training or nutrition alone.

That moment, changed everything.

Supplements became an integral part of my personal training services.

And the results? They were spectacular.

My clients started getting better, faster results, and I finally began building financial stability for myself.

The First Digital Steps

In 2009, I launched my first online product — a 5-DVD workout program called The Kettlebell Workout. It was a complete home fitness program, and it marked the beginning of my online journey.

Then in 2012, I started recommending superfoods and supplements online, working with clients across the country.

And it was in London where I met Shazzie, the founder of Rawcreation Ltd. Back then, the brand was called Detox Your World. I saw the potential — and I decided to take over the business.

A Decade of Dedication

Between 2012 and 2024, I focused solely on the Dutch market. Books, info products, supplements, all with one goal in mind: helping people heal from the inside out.

Over those years, I wrote more than 15 books on health and nutrition — on longevity, immunity, gut health, detox, skin health, beauty. Every one of them was written to bridge the worlds of nature and science, with practical, real-world applications.

The goal was never hype. It was always this:

A Flooded Market — And a New Mission

But something changed in 2024.

Since 2020, the international supplement market has become flooded with new supplement brands. Very few with true integrity, focus on clients’ results and scientific backing.

Hundreds of brands offering cheap ingredients with cheap fillers at premium prices. Formulas not made to heal or provide true results, but made for profit.

Having started as an expert myself, I could see what was happening. And I knew: We, the real experts, need to step up.

We need to step into our role as guides. Because people aren’t just coming to us for personal training, or nutrition, or beauty treatments, they’re coming to us for results.
